The crown jewel of HBO’s current line-up is the epic fantasy Game of Thrones. Our team sourced the Virtual Reality archery experience Quivr which places players in a wintry fortress defending themselves from magical attackers using only a bow and arrow. We thought that the game’s aesthetic was remarkably close to the iconic Wall of Game of Thrones defended by Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch in some of the show’s most exciting sequences. Our clients agreed.
We set up two systems in the 10 x 20 booth space with 65” screens that allowed spectators to gather around and watch their friends defend the wall. We worked with our friends at Dot2Dot Communications and Big Star to create a dynamic video wall that displayed the full range of HBO’s programming across 9 large screens creating an exciting and eye-catching backdrop for the VR heroics. We set up a second Video Wall at the conference’s evening social event where the screens were filled with the live drawings of a caricature artist.
Over the course of the two day activation, over 200 Rogers sales managers entered the HBO Defend the Wall VR experience and many more stayed to watch making our clients’ booth the most popular in the entire show. People emerged from the experience amazed by their first Virtual Reality experience and eager to learn more about HBO Go and the amazing technology used to promote it.
